SEO is the broader foundation
Search engine optimization helps search systems discover and understand pages, while helping visitors find relevant information. It includes technical access, content, internal links and the overall usefulness of a page. For a Kelowna business, that may also mean accurate local information and clear coverage of the services it offers.
AEO emphasizes the answer
Answer engine optimization focuses on making information understandable in question-and-answer contexts, including AI-assisted discovery. A direct summary is useful, but it needs supporting detail. If a page answers “what is included in a tour?” it should also explain the conditions and exclusions that affect the answer.
Work on the overlap first
A business usually benefits from pages that load reliably, identify the organization clearly and explain services with evidence. Use informative headings and relevant links. Add structured data where it accurately describes visible content. Google’s guidance states that its AI features do not require special optimization beyond established SEO practices.
Do not confuse a mention with a result
An assistant may name a business without linking to its website, or cite a page for an informational answer. Those are different observations. Record the engine, question, date and linked source when reviewing visibility. Repeat a consistent set of observations before describing a trend.
Use a practical order of work
First resolve serious access and enquiry problems. Next improve the pages closest to your actual services. Add answers that your team is qualified to give, then connect those answers to useful supporting pages. Broaden the content library only when the new topics serve a clear audience need.
Keep expectations grounded
No agency controls a search engine’s ranking or an AI system’s answer. AEO is not a guarantee of citation, and publishing an AI-specific text file is not a substitute for a useful site. Judge the work by completed improvements, better information and meaningful customer outcomes.
